Waterproofing That Stays Dry: Ardex Systems in Regina

Water finds every gap. Ardex waterproofing systems are engineered so that the primer, membrane, joint detail, and protection layer work as one assembly. Regina Concrete installs the full Ardex protocol, no shortcuts, no substitutions, because that is what makes the waterproofing last. Below-grade walls, plaza decks, wet rooms, balconies. Why systems work

The Ardex Waterproofing Assembly: Each Layer Matters

A waterproofing membrane is not a standalone product. It sits on a primed substrate, bonds through a compatible primer, and must be protected from backfill, foot traffic, or weather exposure after it cures. Remove any one of those layers and the system fails. Ardex designs each component to work with the others, and the warranty depends on that full-system installation.

We do not cut corners on the prep work. The substrate gets cleaned, repaired with Ardex-compatible materials, and staged so that every corner, penetration, and transition gets the engineered detail product. That is where water actually tries to get through, and that is where the system has to hold.

Our full Ardex lineup includes repair mortars, overlays, and self-leveling products that often work alongside the waterproofing. For basement waterproofing or commercial floor projects, the Ardex system integrates into the larger scope.

Installation sequence

How Ardex Waterproofing Gets Installed in Regina

  1. Assess and specify

We evaluate the substrate, exposure conditions, and protection requirements to select the right Ardex system (below-grade liquid-applied, plaza-deck membrane, wet-room, or balcony). The spec drives the entire install.

  2. Prepare the slab

Concrete is cleaned, cracks and spalls are repaired with Ardex repair mortar, and the surface is staged for primer application. All joint details are prepped so the membrane can be applied to spec.

  3. Prime and coat

The matched Ardex primer is rolled or sprayed, then the membrane is applied at the engineered thickness. Liquid-applied or sheet membrane depends on the system; every corner and penetration gets the detail product.

  4. Protect and hand off

Once the membrane cures, the protection layer (drainage board, screed, or traffic surface) is installed. We document the system for warranty and hand off the waterproofing ready for the next phase.

The failure point

Why Joint Details Are the Waterproofing Battleground

The membrane across the open field rarely fails. Water finds the corner, the wall-to-floor transition, the pipe penetration, the expansion joint. That is where the system either holds or leaks. Ardex provides engineered detail products for every transition type, and we install them per spec because that is where the warranty lives.

If the substrate has existing damage, we use Ardex repair mortars to bring it to spec before the membrane goes down. For larger foundation or basement projects, the waterproofing detail work coordinates with the broader concrete scope.

Common questions

Ardex Waterproofing Questions, Answered

System types, joint details, protection layers and warranty.

Multiple systems for different applications: below-grade liquid-applied, plaza-deck membrane, wet-room system, balcony waterproofing. We spec from the Ardex range based on the project's actual exposure and substrate.
Because that is where most waterproofing fails. The membrane field is rarely the problem; the corner or penetration is. Ardex provides engineered detail products for those transitions; using them per spec is what makes the system hold.
A physical layer (drainage board, screed, traffic surface) installed over the cured membrane to protect it from backfill, traffic, or service exposure. Without protection, even a perfectly installed membrane can be damaged in subsequent construction phases.
Yes, system warranty applies when installed to Ardex spec by an Ardex-system installer. We deliver the warranty documentation at handoff.
Depends on area and system. Below-grade wall waterproofing on a foundation might be a few days; a full plaza-deck system stretches longer. The full schedule is in the quote.

They walked through the joint detail before install so we understood why it cost what it cost. The system has held; the up-front spec discussion was worth it.
