Regina's Metallic Epoxy Garage Floor, Marbled Depth, Real Durability
Pigment worked through a clear epoxy body coat produces swirling, light-catching depth no painted slab can match. Regina Concrete installs the full system, ground slab, primer, metallic body, tough clear topcoat, and backs every job with a free written estimate.

How the finish is built
Inside a Metallic Epoxy Garage Floor: Layer by Layer
Most garage floor coatings start with colour and stop there. Metallic epoxy goes further: metallic pigment is blended into a clear epoxy body coat, then physically worked across the slab with rollers, brushes and controlled air movement. The pigment shifts and settles into clouds, veins and swirls that read three-dimensional under overhead lighting. No two floors land in exactly the same pattern, which is part of the appeal.
The visual effect sits in the body coat, not the topcoat. Once the metallic layer cures, a garage-grade clear topcoat goes over the entire surface. That topcoat is what faces hot tires pulling in off a Regina winter road, road salt tracked in on wheel wells, and the occasional dropped socket wrench. The decorative layer underneath stays protected. For a cost comparison before committing, see our concrete cost guide or read through the concrete FAQs.
Slab prep is the same disciplined process used on every coating job: mechanical grinding to open the concrete surface, crack and pit repair where needed, moisture testing, and a matched primer before any epoxy goes down. Skipping prep is the reason coatings peel; we don't skip it. Homeowners weighing options can also look at stained concrete floors or polished garage floors for a no-coating alternative.

How Regina Concrete Installs a Metallic Epoxy Floor
-
On-site colour selection
We bring pigment sample boards to your garage in natural light. You choose a single colour or a multi-tone blend, and we run a small test patch on the actual slab so you can see how the metallic moves before the full install begins.
-
Mechanical slab preparation
The concrete is ground to the profile the coating system requires, surface defects are filled and feathered, moisture readings are taken, and a system-matched primer is applied and allowed to cure fully.
-
Metallic body coat application
Metallic pigment is mixed into the clear epoxy body coat. The installer works the material across the slab with rollers, brushes and directed air, guiding the pigment into the swirl and cloud pattern chosen at the sample stage.
-
Clear topcoat and cure schedule
After the metallic body coat cures, a tough clear topcoat is applied across the full floor. The system then follows a defined cure schedule before foot traffic, then vehicle load, is allowed back on the slab.
Picking the right coating
Choosing Between Metallic Epoxy, Standard Epoxy, and Polyaspartic
Three questions narrow the choice quickly. First, how important is the visual finish? If a marbled, light-catching floor is the goal, metallic epoxy is the right system. If a clean, sealed slab in a solid colour or broadcast flake is enough, a standard epoxy garage floor costs less and delivers proven durability. Both systems use the same prep discipline and the same garage-grade topcoat.
Second, how soon does the garage need to be back in service? A polyaspartic garage floor cures faster than epoxy and can also be installed as a metallic system if speed matters. Third, is there an existing coating that has already failed? Garage floor repair strips the old material and rebuilds the system properly before any new coating goes down. Skipping that step produces the same failure again.
Metallic epoxy carries a price premium over standard epoxy, reflecting the pigment cost, the additional installer time spent working the body coat, and the test-patch step. We quote both options side by side on every metallic estimate so the comparison is straightforward. Curious about what goes into a concrete estimate? The concrete estimate guide covers what we measure and why.

Metallic Epoxy Garage Floor, Questions Answered
Finish variability, durability, colour options, and how metallic epoxy pricing compares in Regina.
Metallic epoxy in a deep blue blend across the shop garage. The depth catches the lights and looks like a showroom, but it handles dropped wrenches and brake fluid just fine.
They did a small test area first so we could see how the metallic moved before committing. Final floor is exactly the look we picked, just at full scale.
Marbled monochrome whites and greys. Looks like polished marble until you realise it is concrete. The topcoat has shrugged off a winter of salt without losing the gloss.
Bought a sports car after the floor went in and the garage finally felt worthy of it. Compliments every time someone visits.
