Stop Wet Basements with Foundation Waterproofing
Groundwater finds every crack and gap in an unprotected foundation. Regina Concrete digs to the footing, applies a bonded membrane that sheds water, installs new weeping tile in drainage stone, and backfills so the wall stays dry for decades. We handle new pours before backfill and retrofit existing foundations that are leaking. Every project includes a free written estimate and firm schedule.

The science of staying dry
Why Exterior Membrane Solves the Problem
Water pressure against a foundation wall never stops. Interior sealers and paints only mask the leak; the concrete behind them stays saturated, and freeze-thaw cycles continue to crack and weaken the wall. The real solution is on the outside, where the water is.
A proper waterproofing system starts with excavation to the footing. The wall gets cleaned, a bonded membrane is applied from footing to grade, drainage board covers it, and new weeping tile is bedded in clean stone at the footing level. Backfill with drainage stone lets groundwater move down to the tile instead of pressing against the wall.
This is the same approach we use on every new foundation pour before backfill, and on every retrofit where a basement has started leaking. When paired with foundation crack repair, it addresses both the water entry and any structural damage. See our full range of foundation services and how they work together.
The waterproofing sequence
How Foundation Waterproofing Gets Installed
-
Assess the wet spots
We identify which walls are leaking, check the grade and gutter system above, and determine if weeping tile is missing or clogged. This tells us exactly where to excavate and what the root cause is.
-
Excavate to the footing
We dig down the affected wall sections to expose the footing, remove old coatings and failed waterproofing, and inspect the concrete before any new system goes on.
-
Install the membrane
A bonded waterproofing membrane is applied to the cleaned wall from footing to grade, drainage board is placed over it, and the system is allowed to cure before backfill.
-
Restore drainage and grade
New weeping tile is laid at the footing in clean stone, the trench is backfilled with drainage stone over the tile, the grade is restored, and downspouts are extended away from the wall.
Why interior fixes fail
Paint and Sealer Don't Stop Groundwater Pressure
Many homeowners have tried interior sealers or epoxy paints before calling us. The paint flakes, efflorescence returns, and the wall is still damp. The water is still on the outside, still pressing against the concrete, and the interior coating cannot stop it.
Combining exterior waterproofing with basement waterproofing and structural repair is the only approach that keeps water out long-term. This is what we install on every basement renovation we complete, and it is what keeps the space usable for decades.

Foundation Waterproofing Questions, Answered
Interior vs exterior, weeping tile, retrofit work and what waterproofing actually keeps out.
Two interior sealer jobs failed before we called Regina Concrete. They went to the outside, did it right, and the basement has been dry through two springs since.
Excavated one wall, replaced the weeping tile, put on a proper membrane, restored the landscaping cleanly. Wall is dry, yard looks like nothing happened.
Honest that the leak was just one corner and we did not need to do the whole foundation. Saved us a lot. Corner has stayed dry through the rain we had since.
Big excavation, big mess on day one, but they put the yard back together by the end and the basement is bone dry. Worth doing once and properly.
