Sealed Interior Epoxy Floors for Regina Basements & Shops
A properly prepped concrete slab with a full epoxy system delivers a seamless, washable, chemical-resistant floor that lasts 10–20 years. Regina Concrete grinds the slab to profile, tests for moisture, then applies primer, body coat and topcoat to spec. Basements, utility rooms, workshops and finished living spaces all benefit from the durability and easy maintenance.
- Slab ground to manufacturer profile
- Moisture testing before coating
- Full system: primer, body, topcoat
The foundation matters
How Slab Condition Determines Epoxy Floor Success
Epoxy fails when the slab is not ready. A sealed surface, high moisture, or loose concrete will cause the coating to lift and peel within months. We start every interior epoxy project by grinding or shot-blasting the slab to the profile the manufacturer specifies, then running a moisture test to confirm the concrete is dry enough to accept the coating.
Once the slab is prepped, the system is chosen to match the room. A basement utility area gets a basic epoxy with a solid-colour or flake topcoat. A workshop or storage room gets a tougher epoxy with chemical resistance. A finished living space gets a decorative option, metallic or self-leveling, with a high-gloss clear top.
The coating then goes down in layers, primer for adhesion, body coat with any colour or texture, topcoat for protection and finish. This same discipline applies to our garage floor coating work. When the slab is uneven, we pair the epoxy with a self-leveling underlayment to bring it into tolerance first. For existing floors that need resurfacing, micro-topping is the prep step.
Installation sequence
The Four Stages of Installing Interior Epoxy in Regina
-
Assess slab condition and moisture
We inspect for old sealers, cracks, and moisture content. If the slab is not epoxy-ready, we flag the prep work needed, such as sealer removal or crack repair, before any coating is applied.
-
Mechanically grind or blast the surface
Using diamond grinders or shot-blasting equipment, we open the concrete to the profile the manufacturer requires. This mechanical bond is what keeps the epoxy from peeling.
-
Install primer, body coat, and topcoat
We apply the full epoxy system in sequence, each layer to the specified coverage and thickness. Flake, metallic, or solid-colour options go into the body coat; slip-resistant aggregate goes into the topcoat where needed.
-
Monitor cure and hand off the floor
Each layer cures to schedule before the next is applied. The topcoat reaches full chemical resistance after the published cure window. We provide the timeline for foot traffic and full load.
Choosing the right finish
When Epoxy Is the Right Choice, and When It Isn't
Interior epoxy is the best choice when you need a sealed, washable, chemical-resistant surface that can handle spills, stains and regular cleaning. Basements, shops, utility rooms and any space where durability and easy maintenance outweigh the desire for a natural concrete look are ideal candidates.
If you prefer the look and feel of bare concrete without a coating, polished concrete is the answer. The slab itself becomes the finish, ground and sealed but not coated. Stained concrete adds colour to the slab and is often topped with a clear sealer. For slabs that are too uneven or damaged for either approach, micro-topping resurfaces the concrete before any finish is applied.

Frequently Asked Questions About Interior Epoxy Floors
Slab prep, system selection, durability and maintenance for interior epoxy in Regina.
Epoxy in the basement utility room. Seamless, easy to wipe down, and our laundry-spill incidents stopped being a problem the day they finished the install.
Workshop floor with a chemical-resistant topcoat. Two years of solvents and dropped tools and the surface still wipes clean. They prepped the slab properly first, that is the difference.
Decorative metallic epoxy in our finished basement. Looks like a statement floor, but it cleans like vinyl. Way nicer than the carpet we ripped out.
They explained that polished would not work on our slab and recommended a micro-topping plus epoxy instead. Done right, the new floor looks like a brand-new install.
