Tailored Concrete Countertops for Regina Kitchens

A concrete countertop is a poured surface that becomes part of your kitchen or bath design. We cast them two ways: directly on your cabinetry, or in our shop and installed once fully cured. Both methods deliver a sealed, food-safe work surface in the color and edge profile you choose. Start with a free on-site estimate.

Why concrete works

When Concrete Countertops Beat Stone

Concrete is not a stone substitute. It is a material that lets you build the exact surface you want: a specific color mixed into the pour, an edge profile that matches your cabinetry detail, glass or stone inlays set into the slab, or a drainboard cast as one piece with the counter. Stone cannot do those things. If you want a tailored, one-of-a-kind work surface, concrete is the answer.

The casting method depends on your situation. In-place casting means the form sits on your cabinets, the concrete pours and cures right there, then gets ground and sealed in your kitchen. Shop-cast means we build and cure the slab offsite, then install it in pieces, keeping your kitchen clean during the work. We recommend the right approach based on your layout and schedule.

Our polished concrete floors and patio work follow the same logic: custom color, custom finish, custom detail. We tie indoor countertops into the broader residential concrete plan when you want a cohesive look across the home.

The sequence

How We Build Concrete Countertops in Regina

  1. Measure and lock the design

We visit your kitchen or bath, measure every dimension, mark sink and cooktop cutouts, confirm the edge profile and color sample, and document the design before any work begins.

  2. Build forms and set reinforcement

Forms are constructed to match your template, with the edge profile built into the mold. Rebar or wire mesh is positioned for strength, color pigment is added to the concrete mix, and any decorative inlays are placed in the form.

  3. Pour, cure, and grind the surface

Concrete is placed into the form, consolidated to remove air, and left to cure on schedule. Once cured, the surface is ground progressively finer, then honed or polished to your chosen finish level.

  4. Seal and hand off the care plan

A food-safe sealer rated for kitchen use is applied to the finished concrete. You receive a maintenance schedule showing when to re-seal (typically every few years) to keep the countertop performing.

Real-world performance

Sealed Concrete Handles Kitchen Wear

A concrete countertop is a working surface, not a display piece. It sits under hot pans, sharp knives, spilled wine, and the daily grind of a busy kitchen. When sealed and maintained on schedule, it resists staining and wear. When neglected, even the best concrete can absorb a coffee ring. The sealer is the barrier between the concrete and the spill, and refreshing it every few years is the maintenance contract.

We are direct about this on every project. A countertop in a high-traffic family kitchen gets a different sealer recommendation than one in a guest bath. The care plan is part of the quote, not an afterthought. This is how we approach every countertop project, and it is the same philosophy we use for garage floor coatings and other residential concrete work.

Common questions

Indoor Concrete Countertop Questions, Answered

Cast-in-place vs shop-cast, sealers, food-safety, maintenance and edge profiles.

Cast-in-place is best for long integrated runs, integrated drainboards and seamless looks; shop-cast is best when the kitchen has to stay clean during construction and the pieces can be lifted into place. We recommend based on your kitchen and timeline.
Yes, when sealed with a food-safe sealer rated for kitchen use and maintained on the recommended re-seal schedule. Concrete itself is inert; the sealer is what stands between the surface and the spills, and it is what gets refreshed every few years.
Properly designed and cured concrete countertops do not crack in normal use. We engineer reinforcement and joints for the size and use of each top; hairline crazing in the surface is a normal characteristic of concrete and part of the look, not a structural issue.
Yes. Custom edge profiles (square, eased, ogee), inlays (glass, stone, wood), and integrated cast-in sinks are all options. Most of what makes a custom concrete countertop worth choosing over stone is the ability to do those things.
From template to install is typically several weeks because casting and curing are time-bound; the in-kitchen disruption itself is shorter, often just install day for shop-cast or a few days for cast-in-place. Full timeline is on the quote.

In-place island with an integrated drainboard. Could not have gotten this in stone. Honed finish, integral color, sealed beautifully. The kitchen now has its centerpiece.

Shop-cast vanity with an integrated basin. They templated, cast offsite, installed clean, sealed it. Bath now feels custom in the best way. Maintenance plan was clear up front.

Honest that concrete tops need re-sealing every few years and counted that into the quote. Better than pretending it would never need any care. The counter still looks new after two years.

Custom edge profile that matched our cabinetry detail exactly. Could not get that anywhere else. The kitchen looks designed, not assembled. Worth every dollar.
