Concrete Bases for Fire Pits & Fire Tables
When you set a fire pit or fire table in your Regina yard, it needs a solid, level concrete slab underneath. We pour pads sized to your seating, finished for safe footing, and built to stay intact through Saskatchewan winters. The pad can stand alone or integrate with your outdoor living concrete, matching the finish and elevation of nearby patios and walkways.
- Sized to your fire feature
- Broom-finish for traction
- Handles freeze-thaw cycles

Why Fire-Pit Pads Matter in Backyard Design
A fire pit or fire table sits on concrete for three reasons. First, the slab carries the weight of the feature itself without settling or cracking. Second, concrete is non-combustible, so embers and radiant heat don't ignite the ground beneath. Third, a properly sized pad gives everyone sitting around it a level, stable place to stand or sit.
We pour the slab on a compacted base, set the thickness to match the load, finish it with a broom texture for grip in wet or icy conditions, and size the perimeter so chairs and benches sit at the right distance from the heat. The shape can be round, square, rectangular, or custom to fit your yard's layout.
When you're building a full outdoor living space, the fire-pit pad ties in with a concrete patio, an outdoor kitchen counter, or a pool deck, so all the concrete reads as one cohesive zone.
The build sequence
Pouring a Fire-Pit Pad Step by Step
-
Measure the fire feature and seating
We confirm what fire pit, fire table, or built-in feature you're installing, measure the footprint, and determine how much seating space you want around it, plus the clearance needed from the house and any structures.
-
Excavate and prepare the base
The area is dug to the right depth, a compacted granular base is laid for drainage and stability, and wooden or metal forms are set to the finished shape and a slight slope to shed water away.
-
Place and finish the concrete
Air-entrained concrete is delivered and poured into the forms, screeded level, and finished with a broom texture for traction. Reinforcement is placed to handle the load and the freeze-thaw stress.
-
Cut joints and cure
Control joints are cut on a grid to manage cracking, the slab is cured to schedule, and you receive a handoff date when the pad is ready to support your fire feature and the gathering around it.

How Fire-Pit Pads Connect to the Wider Yard
A fire-pit pad rarely stands alone. It works best when it's part of a larger outdoor concrete plan. Pair it with a patio for evening seating, an outdoor kitchen for cooking and prep, or a pool deck for poolside lounging.
When we design and pour all of these as one project, the finishes match, the elevations line up, and the whole yard feels intentional. The fire pit becomes the natural gathering hub, with concrete flowing from the house out to the seating, the kitchen, and the pool.

Fire Pit & Fire Table Pad Questions, Answered
Size, clearance, non-combustible bases and how fire-pit pads fit a Regina yard.
Round concrete pad sized for our fire pit and six chairs. Stable underfoot, broom finish gives grip, and the kids can run around the seating without worry.
Pad ties into the patio so the whole back of the house feels like one space. Sat around the fire on snow days and the pad does not crack or move.
Free-form pad shaped to fit a corner of the yard. Looks intentional, fits the fire table exactly, and the clearance from the fence is right where the bylaw needs it.
Coordinated the fire-pit pad, the outdoor kitchen and the pool deck as one project. Everything matches, everything drains properly, and the yard finally feels finished.
