Engineered Sika Repair Mortars for Regina Concrete
Spalls, cracks, and section loss on concrete structures demand the right repair mortar matched to the load, location, and finish. Sika MonoTop handles structural restoration; SikaRep covers cosmetic and decorative patching. We assess each repair, select the engineered product, apply the bonded primer protocol, and cure per specification. Free assessment and written quote.

Why Sika Repair Mortars Require Diagnosis
Sika MonoTop and SikaRep are not single products but families of formulations, each engineered for specific repair conditions. MonoTop addresses structural restoration where the repair must carry load; SikaRep targets cosmetic and decorative patching where appearance and surface finish dominate. Within each family, formulations vary by depth capacity, cure speed, rheology, and finish texture.
A spall on a parking structure soffit demands different chemistry than a cosmetic chip on a residential patio. A deep section loss on a foundation wall requires different placement strategy than a thin overlay on a warehouse floor. We diagnose the repair condition first, then specify the matched Sika product. Using the wrong product in the right situation fails as predictably as using the right product in the wrong situation.
Integrate Sika waterproofing when the repair is part of a moisture-control scope, coordinate with Sika crack injection when injection precedes surface repair, and reference the full Sika floor systems for industrial applications.
Installation sequence
How Sika Repair Mortars Get Installed in Regina
-
Assess repair condition
We evaluate the repair location (horizontal, vertical, overhead), depth (thin layer or section replacement), structural role (load-bearing or cosmetic), and surrounding concrete condition to determine which Sika product family and formulation fits.
-
Prepare substrate to spec
The repair area is saw-cut to clean edge where needed, unsound concrete and contaminants removed, and the substrate cleaned and profiled to the Sika specification for the chosen product.
-
Apply bonded primer
The Sika bonded primer is applied to the prepped substrate. This primer is what creates permanent adhesion between the repair mortar and the existing concrete. Skipping or substituting the primer voids warranty.
-
Mix and place mortar
The repair mortar is mixed to manufacturer ratios and placed at the engineered thickness. For deep repairs, multiple lifts may be required with full cure between each lift.
-
Finish and document
Surface finish is matched to surrounding concrete texture. The repair cures per Sika schedule. Installation is documented for warranty support and future reference.

Why Product Substitution Breaks Sika Repairs
The most frequent Sika repair failure we encounter is product substitution. A contractor uses a generic or off-brand mortar instead of the specified Sika product, often because the specified product was harder to source or cost more. The substitute does not bond to the Sika primer, the chemistry is incompatible, and the repair fails within months or years.
We use the specified Sika product end-to-end. When a project has multiple repair situations, we use multiple Sika products matched to each condition rather than forcing one product across all repairs. This approach costs more upfront but delivers repairs that outlast the surrounding concrete. We also coordinate with our broader brand specialty work and other Sika services to ensure system compatibility.

Sika Repair Questions, Answered
MonoTop vs SikaRep, structural vs cosmetic, overhead repair and warranty.
Structural repair on a parking structure spall. They used Sika MonoTop with the right primer, cured per spec. The repair has carried load for three years with no issues. Real engineering.
Overhead repair on a basement ceiling spall. The non-sag Sika product stayed in place during cure where a standard product would have slumped. Right product for the situation.
Deep-section repair on a structural element. Multiple lifts with the proper Sika product, full cure between each. Restored to engineering spec with documentation.
They were honest that one of our repairs needed the more expensive Sika product, not a substitute. Trust earned by recommending the right product even when cheaper would have worked short-term.
